Diederik Schrijvershof and Leah Peeters wrote an opinion piece for Zorgvisie on the NZa's approach to enforcing the duty of care. The NZa does not make sufficiently clear what health insurers must do exactly to fulfil their duty of care. Healthcare insurers could better explain to their insured persons where they should report if they are waiting too long for care. The NZa could monitor this more strictly. In this way, the duty of care can be effectively complied with and waiting lists in mental healthcare can be reduced.
