Cyriel Ruers and Sietske Brinksma are assisting the Dutch Food Industry Federation (FNLI) in the ongoing market investigation by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) into food prices in the Netherlands.
The ACM is investigating how the prices of everyday groceries in Dutch supermarkets are determined and, specifically: (i) price differences between products in Dutch supermarkets and in neighbouring countries; (ii) the profit margins at product level of food suppliers (including premium brands) and the profit margins of supermarkets; and (iii) possible explanations for high or low profit margins.
