Pieter Sjoerd Wesselius has been working as a legal associate at Maverick Advocaten since August 2026. In 2020, he graduated cum laude in Dutch law from the University of Groningen, where he also completed a Master’s degree in Legal Research. He subsequently joined the University of Groningen as a PhD candidate. During his doctoral research, he published several articles in the field of competition and state aid law, presented at several conferences and taught courses including competition law. In May 2025, Pieter Sjoerd was awarded his PhD for his thesis Beyond Assumptions in State Aid Supervision, an empirical study on the effects of state aid on competition.
Pieter Sjoerd is a member of the Association for European State Aid Law.
