Interviews Maverick Advocaten with GCR on the industrial-laundry cartel, the Streamlining Act, energy auctions and the banking sector

Industrial-laundry cartel

Diederik Schrijvershof has been interviewed by Global Competition Review regarding the decision of the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) on the industrial-laundry cartel. ACM maintains its position that there has been an infringement of competition law. ACM reports: "It involves laundries that treat textiles for healthcare providers. At the end of 2011 ACM fined laundries for infringing the Dutch Competition Act. The laundries subsequently lodged their appeal. After consulting the Advisory Committee (‘Bezwaar en Advies Commissie’), ACM reassessed its decision. ACM now comes to the conclusion that ACM’s decision must be maintained. However, ACM reduces the fine by 30% in light of the special circumstances in the procedure." In this interview, Diederik Schrijvershof elaborates on ACM’s decision.

Streamlining Act

On 1 August 2014, the Streamlining Act came into force. With the entry into force of the Streamlining Act, several other laws are amended. Global Competition Review interviews Diederik Schrijvershof in relation to the annoucement of the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) to investigate energy auctions. If this is the case it consumers might be missing out on benefits. It is important for consumers to know that the energy auctions are functioning well so that they can participate with confidence in these auctions. “ In the interview Diederik Schrijvershof elaborates on the consequences of ACM’s investigation.
