Marlies (admitted to the bar in 2016) advises on (European) competition law and on regulated markets such as telecommunications, post and healthcare. She has knowledge of all areas of competition law, including cartels and notifications at the Dutch Healthcare Authority, the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets and the European Commission. In addition, Marlies has experience with dawn raids. She is a member of the Dutch Competition Law Association and she frequently publishes in professional journals, such as Markt en Mededinging and Tijdschrift Mededingingsrecht in de Praktijk.
Marlies obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Tilburg University in 2013. In addition to the regular Bachelor programme, Marlies took part in the prestigious ‘Top Class’. Only the very best law students at Tilburg University are admitted to that additional programme. In 2014 Marlies obtained a Master’s degree in European Competition Law and Regulation from the University of Amsterdam. During her Master’s degree course Marlies completed an internship at the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs. Until 2013 she played soccer in the highest league of the Dutch women amateur soccer competition.
Marlies works as an associate at Maverick Advocaten. Previously, Marlies worked as a lawyer and before that as paralegal at Maverick Advocaten.
